Target Validation- Single Cell RNA sequencing
Immunocore Limited, just south of Oxford, UK, is an innovative and dynamic biotechnology company developing a unique platform of T Cell antigen receptor-based therapeutics, called ImmTACs, as a novel class of treatments for cancer. Due to continuing rapid expansion, we are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and talented individuals to join our:
TARGET IDENTIFICATION AND VALIDATION TEAM
The focus of our team is to identify and validate potential targets in a wide range of cancer indications. For target discovery, we access datasets generated externally or in-house (RNA-sequencing, proteomics, microarray) and use a range of data mining strategies to identify potential targets that are over-expressed in tumours. Once identified, we use a range of techniques including qRT-PCR, laser-capture microdissection (LCM), immunocytochemistry (IHC), in-situ hybridisation (ISH), flow cytometry and western blot to analyse target expression in tumours, normal tissues and normal cells. The work of Target Validation scientists supports ImmTAC development from the earliest stages of target discovery through to development of assays for clinical diagnostics and involves working collaboratively with other teams in the company including cell biology, proteomics and protein science.
Molecular Biologist Single Cell RNA-sequencing (Scientist or Senior Scientist)
The successful candidate will play a key role in performing cutting edge single cell RNA-sequencing experiments which will contribute directly to projects within Target Validation. Accordingly, the candidate should have a sound understanding of molecular biology techniques with hands-on experience in performing, optimising and troubleshooting experiments. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with RNA-sequencing and an understanding of current technologies for single cell analyses.
The successful candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic and motivated to succeed and develop as a scientist within a single cell technology development team. We welcome individuals willing to take initiative, proactively identifying what needs to be done and independently taking action. You should be results-orientated and enjoy the satisfaction of contributing to a team effort. You should have an interest in tumour biology, though we would also welcome candidates who are moving into the field.
A major remit of the position will involve liaising with stakeholders across multiple departments and excellent organisational and communication skills are essential. In particular, an ability to work, plan, execute and report experiments both independently and as part of team is paramount. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in an exciting new technology development group.
Senior Scientists: You will have a PhD or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years post-doctoral experience and will enjoy working in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Scientists: You will either have recently graduated with a PhD or hold a BSc/MSc with additional recent practical experience in a laboratory.
