We are seeking a postdoctoral candidate to join the “microRNAs and non-coding RNAs in development and disease” team led by Dr. Francesco Nicassio.
The Center benefits from state-of-the-art technological platforms in molecular/cellular biology and genomics.
Our group is engaged in a number of projects relating to cancer genomics, development and stem cells. These projects include i) studying the role of microRNAs and lncRNAs by genome-wide (NGS-based) and quantitative approaches, ii) characterizing transcriptional programs and regulatory networks that specify cell identity and behavior in adult stem cells, during development and disease (cancer, aging and neurodegeneration), iii) as well as investigating microRNAs (miRNAs) and non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) as biomarkers.
The position entails application of computational tools for:
- Analysis and integration of genome-wide datasets (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, long-range DNA interactions…);
- Meta-analysis of vast external datasets, such as cancer datasets (e.g. those provided by the TCGA);
- Development of ad hoc bioinformatics tool for the analysis and interpretation of miRNA and lncRNA expression profiles;
- Mathematical modeling (building models from experimental data, time evolution models, behavior prediction) to infer and predict mechanisms of gene/miRNA regulation and genetic networks;
- Statistical analyses.
Prior experience in processing and managing high-throughput sequencing data is preferable. Familiarity with Linux environment, programming skills (especially in R) and a mathematical background will be advantageous. The position benefits from direct integration into an excellent bio-computational environment.
