2014 GTEx Project Community Scientific Meeting

rna-seqWelcome to the second annual GTEx project Community Meeting! The meeting this year will start with a reception and poster session on the evening of June 17th, followed by a day long meeting on June 18th. The goals of this meeting include describing the project’s current status and goals, showcasing advances made in the project thus far, and highlighting the diverse analyses and uses of the GTEx data among the broader community.

The meeting will highlight current data sets and types available, and will include workshops aimed at demonstrating how and where to access the data, what tools are available, and basic analysis methods used on the data. The relationship of the project to other NIH projects and data sets, such as ENCODE and TCGA will be highlighted, and strong emphasis will be placed on showcasing a range of scientific presentations that have used GTEx data.

The Genotype-Tissue Expression project (GTEx) aims to create a public atlas of human gene expression and its regulation across multiple tissue types, enabling the research community to dissect the effect of genetic variation and gene expression, and to aid in the functional interpretation of genetic associations with disease.

GTEx data are now available at dbGaP and the GTEx Portal.
