We seek highly qualified individuals to conduct studies focused on understanding the role of PIWI-interacting RNA (piRNA) pathways in mosquitoes. The candidate will work closely with laboratory personnel investigating host-pathogen interactions, specifically insect immunity to arthropod-borne viruses. These multi-disciplinary studies will include the comprehensive analysis of RNA-seq and small RNA sequencing data. In addition to expertise in NGS data analysis, Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in Drosophila genetics. The successful candidate will develop bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of sequencing data, as well as interact with collaborators to develop grant applications, journal manuscripts and figures.
This position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kevin Myles in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or related field, and demonstrated experience with bioinformatic and statistical software for the analysis of sequencing data. Preferred special knowledge includes proficiency with a programming language such as Python and/or statistical analysis packages such as R, as well as linux and server maintenance.
