Job Summary and Essential Functions:

Summary:
The Molecular Profiling group is seeking a bioinformatics research associate with experience in bioinformatics, statistics, and large-scale data analysis. The successful candidate will analyze transcriptome data to support high-throughput gene knockout and gene over-expression screen. The candidate should have experience with analyzing next-generation-sequencing data, especially RNA-seq data, and interpreting results.
Responsibilities:
-Analyze gene expression data generated by next-generation sequencing or microarray experiments using proprietary and public tools
-Organize results into clear presentation and prepare concise and informative summary for each experiment
-Document and save analysis results and raw data to databases
-Compile and curate historical gene expression experiments
-Assist to meta-analysis of proprietary and public data
-Contribute to team effort of developing database and user interface to enable data sharing
Requirements
Experience and Required Skills:
Requirements:
Education & Experience: This position requires a B.S.& M.S. degree and a minimum of 1-2 years of post-degree experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or biostatistics.
Required & Desired Skills:
-Strong biological background and demonstrated ability to interpret bioinformatics analysis results
-Experience In NGS data analysis with emphasis on gene expression
-Proficiency ‘in R and scripting languages such as python, perl, ruby
-Expertise in bioinformatics tools and databases such as NextBio, UCSC Genome Browser, Spotfire, Ingenuity IPA
-Experience in database design and development in MySQL or other relational database management systems
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects concurrently, and collaborate with others.
Preferred skills:
-Ability to develop custom tools and algorithms to mine large-scale genomic and phenotypic data sets
-Experience with systems biology tools
