Position Summary:

As a bioinformatics scientist, you will collaborate with discovery and preclinical scientists and play a leading role in building a bioinformatics pipeline that will support biomarker discovery, enable deep characterization of existing products, and fuel novel product development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement in house bioinformatics pipeline for single cell and single nucleus RNA sequencing data
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize, execute and analyze experiments in support of internal studies and external collaboration
• Implement standard data analysis, stay up to date with relevant literature, integrate novel analytic approaches
• Build an accessible database and implement visualization platforms to facilitate internal data mining
• Communicate extensively across department
• Maintain detailed records up to industry standard
• Prepare results for internal presentations, grant and patent applications, scientific publications, and FDA filings

Requirements:

• PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Genetics or related field
• 5+ years of experience and demonstrated track record, including research publications, working with NGS pipelines
• Hands-on with single-cell RNA-sequencing data generation, analysis and visualization
• Experience in sequence alignment, mapping, annotation
• Proficiency with R and ability to implement open source packages
• Ability to script in Python, Perl or similar language
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar software (basic functions, no macro experience required)
• Competency to read and incorporate new published approaches for analysis
• Experience with commonly used visualization strategies, including from ggplot and Morpheus
• Willingness to expand skill set and contribute to emerging needs in a highly dynamic start-up environment
• High integrity, great organization and ability to multitask while working within fast-paced timelines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong team player and problem-solver
• Able to work independently and take initiative to improve work processes, develop innovative scientific methodologies and approaches to enhance research productivity

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with 10X Drop Seq pipeline
• Experience with single nucleus RNA-sequencing is a plus
• General -omics expertise: genomics, epigenomics, chromatin dynamics
• Sterile cell culture expertise
• Familiarity with in vitro directed differentiation paradigms from pluripotent stem cells (especially along the neuronal lineage), and molecular characterization of derived cell types
• Basic knowledge of neuroscience and developmental biology is a plus
• Proficient in candidate marker expression assays: ICC, qRT-PCR, ISH, Flow
