The mission of the Center for Cancer Genomics (CCG) is to facilitate the development and implementation of innovative methods and emerging sequencing technologies that directly aid precision cancer medicine efforts.
The CCG has established technology platforms to assist researchers in both genome-wide and gene-focused efforts using next-generation sequencing to characterize tumors at the genomic (genotyping, somatic mutation detection, copy number analysis), transcriptomic (single-cell and single nucleus RNA-seq), and epigenomic (single-nucleus ATAC-seq) levels. We strive to be at the cutting-edge of cancer characterization, utilizing novel technologies and adapting existing technologies for the advancement of cancer research and personalized cancer treatment. Technologies are selected and developed with a view to discovery-oriented ventures, as well as translational medicine and clinical relevance.
We seek a Single-cell/-nucleus Sequencing Group Leader, Scientist II to coordinate scientific projects across multiple groups or collaborators, interact with researchers and clinicians within the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), and manage a team of laboratory specialists. - Manage single-cell/-nucleus sequencing collaborative projects, laboratory workflow, and operations
- Coordinate strategies with collaborators and work closely with faculty and staff across multiple laboratories and centers (both internal and external)
- Manage a team of laboratory technicians, including hiring, training, and providing day-to-day guidance based on project requirements and priorities
- Translate new technology developments to single-cell/-nucleus research
- Continuously optimize, improve, and implement new workflows in single-cell biology
- Assist in the management and participate in Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN) experiments
- Contribute to data analyses and compose scientific reports
- Communicate accomplishments and progress to collaborators and internal staff
- Assist in finalizing projects, including reporting and billing
- Assist with lab operations including ordering and organization, interacting with vendors, coordinating equipment maintenance, updating lab budgets.
- PhD in molecular biology, genomics, or related fields
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, Next Generation Sequencing, and single-cell/-nucleus sequencing workflows (e.g., 10x Genomics) is required
- Strong project management and supervisory skills, with the demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex projects in a matrixed environment
- Strong scientific background, analytical acumen, and attention to detail
- Ability to interact with multidisciplinary staff in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in bioinformatics or statistics is a plus
