Job Description:
- We are a team of computational and experimental scientists and seeking a highly motivated and talented Bacterial RNA Specialist to join an international and collaborative team in an outstanding and competitive scientific environment.
Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will decipher regulatory mechanisms in bacteria by combining global genome-wide methods (RNAseq) with the molecular analysis.
- Execute high throughput, SOP driven, NGS library preparation workflows including WGS and RNA-Seq, with an emphasis on liquid handling automation.
- Operate sequencing instruments.
- Collaborate with scientists to improve current NGS workflows/processes in creative and effective ways
- Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to solve complex problems and achieve goals/deadlines.
- Thoroughly document and effectively communicate scientific results and progress.
- Assist with other molecular biology tasks as needed at the scientific platform.
Experience:
- Expertise/experience with Bacterial RNA.
- Any previous experience with RNA degradation on various aspects of the bacterial ability to optimize growth and survive periods of starvation or other types of stress during the infection process.
- Strong experience with the preparation and sequencing of various DNA and RNA sequencing libraries (Illumina).
- Experience with operating Illumina sequencing platforms.
- Hands-on experience to operate automated liquid handling platforms.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot technical and scientific issues, both individually and as part of a team.
- Experience with other molecular biology techniques (e.g., Nucleic acids purification, vector constructions, PCR/RT-PCR amplification would be a plus.
- Experience using Benchling or similar electronic notebook type experience would be a plus.
Education:
- BS/MS (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology or related field with 1+ year(s) of hands-on NGS experience.
