NERVSPAN PhD position at Single Cell Discoveries

As a PhD Candidate at Single Cell Discoveries you will…

  1. …be part of a Contract Research Organization (CRO) providing single-cell RNA sequencing services and research. One of our goals is to develop novel single-cell sequencing technology to solve the complex biological problems in the real world.
  2. …work with state-of-the-art facilities, including the latest Illumina sequencers, (acoustic) liquid handlers, and bioinformatic support. We are a young company with a highly motivated and create team.
  3. …be based on the Utrecht Science Park, the Netherlands designated as the most competitive region of Europe.
  4. …work at a company with close ties to the Hubrecht Institute for Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research, and access to many facilities on the Utrecht Science Park campus.

Project Aim

The aim of the #NERVSPAN project is to develop and perform full-length single-cell transcriptomics in C. elegans. Current long-read single-cell transcriptomic methods suffer from low sensitivity and incompatibility with C. elegans. We have years of expertise in developing new single-cell profiling methods in a wide range of organisms and cell types. In your research, you will perform dissociation experiments on C. elegans to obtain single cells or nuclei, develop new single-cell RNA sequencing tools, and analyze the resulting data.

▫ Develop a novel highly sensitive long-read scRNA-seq technology.
▫ Improve single-cell or single nuclei isolation from C. elegans.
▫ Perform single-cell sequencing data analysis.

As PhD candidate in NERVSPAN…

As a doctoral candidate within the NERVSPAN network, you will have the opportunity to work with leading academics and industrial partners from across Europe, gaining valuable experience in international collaboration and cutting-edge research. You will also benefit from a comprehensive training program that includes workshops, courses, and secondments, all aimed at enhancing your research and professional skills.
