Position Overview:

As a postdoctoral fellow in Genetics and Pharmacogenomics (GpGx) you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists with expertise in genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, immuno-oncology, immunoassay development, and academia to conceive, design, plan and implement high throughput single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) platforms to profile the response of immune and cancer cells to immunotherapy in clinical samples.

The ideal candidate has a strong working understanding of molecular biology and next generation sequencing, including scRNA-seq sample preparation and data interpretation, and has research experience in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities of this position include supporting the development and optimization of new scRNA-seq methods to apply to clinical samples in close collaboration with Computational Biology and Clinical groups.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development and implementation of technology for high throughput assay for scRNA-seq for analysis of tumor immunotherapy response.
  • Collaborating with academic and commercial partners to develop and implement the best scRNA-seq technology for different types of clinical samples (blood, solid tumor, fine needle aspirates, core needle biopsy)
  • Explore diversity of expression programs among tumor and immune cells using both unsupervised and supervised approaches
  • Utilize integrative data analysis approaches to identify biomarkers, new targets, and specific cellular mechansims that drive response and resistance to immunotherapy

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

PhD with 3 years or less of postdoctoral experience or met all the requirements for a PhD by May 2016

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in assay development and innovation
  • Experience in standard molecular biology techniques and an understanding of the practices and principals of NGS, including hands-on development and optimization of RNA-seq protocols
  • Experience with data analysis of RNA sequencing data
  • Ability to work independently, design experiments, interpret and track results, and utilize this information to enable assay development

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Strong history of publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience with programming in R
  • Ability to analyze and transfer NGS data in a UNIX computing environment
  • Experience with proteomic assays
  • Experience with microfluidic and/or microwell devices
  • Experience operating high throughput lab automation and NGS-sequencers
  • Experience working with typical oncology specimens (e.g. FFPE, Blood, Bone Marrow)
  • An understanding of immunology/immuno-oncology, cell signalling, and tools for characterization of immune response to experimental and therapeutic perturbation
