Position Description:
The Jawaheer Lab at the Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI) is looking for a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow to study gene expression before, during and after pregnancy among healthy women and women with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We are interested in understanding what biological changes may be involved in inducing a natural improvement of an incurable systemic disease like RA during pregnancy, what changes could be responsible for a flare of the disease after childbirth, and what potential mechanisms of transcriptional control could be regulating these biological phenomena. This highly interdisciplinary research involves using state-of-the-art genomic (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq), bioinformatics and statistical modelling approaches.
The successful candidate must have completed a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational biology, Biological Sciences and/or related field. Computational research experience, including experience in bioinformatics, statistical modelling and scripting in programming languages such as R is required.
