If you’re after a rewarding career, Monash University can help make it happen. With leading academics and world-class resources, combined with a ranking in the top 100 universities worldwide, we offer all you need to build a brighter future.
The Opportunity
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow is required to join the group led by Professor Jian Li in the Department of Drug Delivery Disposition and Dynamics to conduct research in antimicrobial microbiology.
The focus of the research is on the discovery of new antibiotics against Gram-negative ‘superbugs’ and the pharmacology of polymyxins, a class of last-line antibiotics against these bacteria. Professor Li’s group is employing a multidisciplinary approach (e.g. antimicrobial pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, microbiology, biochemistry, genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and molecular imaging) to discover new antibiotics and to optimise the clinical use of polymyxins.
Prior experience in molecular biology, RNA isolation and analysis using qPCR and RNA-seq, as well as biochemistry and omics techniques is essential. You should hold a PhD degree in Life Sciences/Biological Sciences (preferably with a major in microbiology).
As the successful applicant, you will be expected to contribute towards the research effort of the University and to develop your research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to the particular field of research.
If you feel that you have the skills and experience to make this role a success your application is encouraged.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to “How to apply for Monash Jobs”
